MiX Telematics to showcase risk-reducing and performance-driven solutions at 8th Doha International Oil & Gas Exhibition

07 Oct 2013

7 October 2013, Doha, Qatar; Dubai, UAE – MiX Telematics, a leading global provider of fleet and mobile asset management solutions delivered as software-as-a-service or SaaS, says that oil and gas companies in Qatar and the GCC can save up to 15% on their fuel costs by implementing an effective fleet management solution.

“We help multiple oil and gas customers achieve and sustain results like this through driver behaviour monitoring and driver training initiatives,” says Alan Hall, Managing Director of MiX Telematics (Middle East and Australasia).

“Today, we’re excited to introduce existing and new potential customers to the latest in our lineup of internationally proven solutions: the recently launched MiX Vision,” says Hall.

“Participating in the 8th Doha International Oil and Gas Exhibition (DIOGE), alongside channel partner Bin Lori Trading and Contracting Company, the event offers an ideal platform for us to demonsrate how this new system can help operators to further cut costs and reduce risk. The event starts today and runs for four days,” says Hall.

MiX Vision is a highly configurable video recording system that allows fleet managers to assess the circumstances at the time of an actual or reported incident. Attached to the inside of the vehicle’s windshield, it houses two tamper-resistant cameras: one road-facing and the other driver-facing. Integration with MiX Telematics’ FM Communicator enables the automatic upload of predefined events such as harsh braking, speeding or an impact. Two 15-second video clips, one showing the driver and the other showing the road, are then made accessible to fleet managers at the end of each completed trip. Access to all footage is made available to fleet managers at the end of each completed trip, and high-resolution versions of the clips are available at the touch of button. The footage can also be leveraged for driver training initiatives.

“As the official distributor of MiX Telematics solutions in Qatar, we’re excited about displaying MiX Vision at DIOGE and taking it directly to the most influential gathering of oil and gas professionals in the region,” says Yousef Abdullah Mohammed Abdur Rahman Al Jassim, General Manager of Bin Lori Trading and Contracting Company.

“As well as assisting operators to reduce costs, MiX Vision helps to protect drivers in cases where they were not at fault. It gives fleet managers clarity when they need it most,” adds Yousef Al Jassim.

“MiX Telematics’ tried and tested fleet management solutions are world-class and sold in 112 countries via an extensive channel partner network. Our customers rely on our In-Vehicle Monitoring System, our web-based services and our reporting and analytics tools to improve overall productivity, bring about significant cost reductions, boost driver safety, and lessen environmental impact,” says Hall.

“Key cost reductions reported by customers who implement a MiX Telematics fleet management solution pertain to lowered fuel consumption and savings in operational and maintenance costs,” adds Hall.

Hall adds that it’s critical for oil and gas companies to commit to a fleet management solution that helps them to take charge of their efficiencies and improve driver safety.

“A large oil and gas customer of ours in the Middle East achieved a 72% sustained improvement in driver behaviour only six weeks after installing a MiX Telematics fleet solution. The same customer achieved a 15% reduction in fuel costs within 12 months,” says Hall.

Customers of MiX Telematics are provided with 24-hour access to vehicle and driver data, along with reporting tools that deliver key business insights. Operators are therefore fully equipped to make informed and timely decisions pertaining to overall performance and safety.

MiX Telematics has worked within the oil and gas industry for over a decade. Customers in the industry include JX Nippon Oil & Gas Exploration (Qatar), Qatar Shell, Schlumberger, and Baker Hughes.

The 8th DIOGE will showcase the latest technologies and developments within the oil and gas industry. It’s said to become the major meeting forum, from which commercial activities can be accomplished.

At DIOGE, MiX Telematics and their in-country channel partner Bin Lori can be visited at Stand Z30 at the Doha Exhibition Centre in Qatar.
