Kuala Lumpur, 25 September 2013 - In an environment of rising fuel prices, MiX Telematics’ innovative telematics solutions are helping bus, coach and truck fleet operators to improve fuel efficiency, vehicle utilisation and driver safety, resulting in lower operating costs.
Richard Burgess, MiX Telematics’s Regional Head of Sales, Asia, said the company’s fleet management solutions can on average help to deliver up to ten per cent savings on annual fuel costs. Such savings are crucial considering that the rising cost of fuel is one of the biggest challenges for fleet operations today.
“Fleet managers operate in a highly competitive and regulated environment. Hence, timely and accurate decision making, enabled by solutions that provide real-time visibility into vehicle location and driver performance is critical to managing a safe and efficient fleet,” he added.
With MiX Telematics’ solutions such as the RIBAS display and MiX Rovi device, fleet operators will also be able to have direct control over aspects such as driver behaviour, vehicle movement and utilisation.
For instance, with the RIBAS display which is mounted on the dashboard of vehicle, drivers will be informed through visual and audible warnings if they are close to exceeding certain limits, including over-revving, excessive idling, harsh braking, harsh acceleration and over speeding.
Fleet operators can monitor efficiency measures in real-time to improve fleet performance and make decisions on whether further driver training is required to correct any issues identified.
According to Richard, the company is keen to develop a stronger presence in Malaysia and is looking to form long term partnerships as well as channel partners. MiX Telematics, a global provider of fleet management, driver safety and vehicle tracking solutions, is taking part in the Asean Logistics and Transport Show 2013 in Kuala Lumpur on Sept 25 to 27, at the Mine Exhibition Center, stand #G11.
“In Asia particularly, MiX Telematics looks forward to helping transport and logistics customers to bring about sustainable results, particularly in the area of driver behaviour and road safety,” Richard said.
“In total, we monitor over 359,000 mobile assets worldwide including trucks, buses and vans. Our aim is to grow this number exponentially by collaborating with local representatives,” Richard said.
