BOCA RATON, FLA. – June 8, 2012 – MiX Telematics North America, a leading provider of driver safety, vehicle tracking and fleet management solutions across the U.S., Canada and Latin America, announced today that the company’s second Thought Leadership white paper titled, “Distracted Driving” is now available online. The Thought Leadership series is written by driver safety experts and available to the public in a PDF format on the company’s website in the White Papers Section. The “Distracted Driving” white paper is being released in conjunction with MiX Telematics North America’s participation at the Connected World Conference, which will be at the Pheasant Run Resort in St. Charles, Ill., from June 11 – 13, 2012.
“Our Thought Leadership white paper series is an invaluable tool for fleet managers,” said Ken Creager, MiX Telematics North America president and CEO. “Our first white paper focused on the basic elements of driver safety that are critical to fleet management operations. We’re now going one step further to highlight distracted driving, such as texting while driving, which is making headlines in the news across the country. Distracted driving is not only an issue that fleet managers need to pay close attention to, but one that every driver needs to better understand in order to avoid its potentially deadly consequences.”
MiX Telematics’ Distracted Driving white paper discusses the social acceptance of multi-tasking when driving. In addition to highlighting activities that drivers often engage in that put others at risk, the white paper also highlights ways drivers can become more responsible in their driving activities. For fleet managers, the Distracted Driving white paper can be an important tool for educating employees about their role in becoming safer drivers.
“It’s unfortunate that serious accidents have had to occur before we opened an honest dialogue about raising our driving standards,” said Creager. “MiX Telematics has been a champion for higher driver safety standards before texting and mobile phones were part of the problem. Not only are we trying to increase awareness of driver safety through our Thought Leadership series, but we’re also on the forefront of technology and offer products and solutions that help modify and improve driver behavior. We believe that all of us, including companies that operate fleets, can play a greater role in making our roads a safer place to drive.”
