DALLAS – MiX Telematics, a leading global provider of vehicle tracking and fleet management solutions, announced its agreement with oil and gas well site servicing company Basic Energy Services Inc. to assist with the company’s fleet management solutions.
MiX Telematics’ sophisticated In-Vehicle Monitoring System (IVMS) along with the robust MiX Display will support Basic Energy’s initiative to reduce the number of motor vehicle crashes within its fleet, establish an electronic hours of service platform enhancing driver safety, and upgrade its GPS tracking system for more efficient vehicle routing and cost savings.
“The MiX driver behavior modification solution is the perfect tool to help Basic Energy achieve its fleet management and safety goals with features such as real time audible in-cab driver coaching, driver identification keys, proven electronic hours of service and optional in-cab navigation software,” said Brian McCoy, vice president of business development for MiX Telematics North America. “The MiX Display is connected to our FM Communicator that collects driver behavior data and sends the information to our online FM-Web application. From this web-based application, fleet managers can review reports, trends and driving behavior in real time, enhancing our customers fleet utilization, performance and safety.”
As part of the product’s advanced features, the MiX Display offers in-cab visual and audible alerts that notify a driver when they are driving outside of the company defined safety standards, enabling the employee to take immediate corrective action. Safety managers are able to assess any employee’s driving history along with behavior scorecards and resolve unsafe behaviors before the driver becomes a danger to himself or other motorists.
“Our objectives are to operate our fleet in the safest and most efficient manner,” said Brad Bounds, fleet efficiency manager at Basic Energy. “Both of which require being constantly on top of where our fleet is operating and the performance of our drivers. The automated tracking of our fleet is an important element in achieving those objectives.”
Basic Energy will also use the MiX Hours of Service driver key, which is unique to each driver. The key collects data from the MiX Display and helps drivers stay compliant with Department of Transportation regulations even when the vehicle is out of communication coverage. The key also acts as a back-up to the server by storing timely and important data.
